Procedures for the Respirator Medical
& Fit Test
Painters Union Management Partnership (PUMP) Program |
|
Step
1 – Medical Evaluation
You must have had a respirator medical evaluation within the last three years. If you
already have a current medical evaluation on file at the Training Center, skip to Step 2.
If you haven't had a medical evaluation with a Providence Occupational Health clinic
within the last three years, you or your employer will need to schedule an appointment.
There are three locations listed below. For
billing, this program is paid for by PUMP.
To schedule an appointment, phone 503-216-7960.
Tell the appointment person:
1) you are a painter
2) which company you work for
3) you would like a "respirator exam" offered by the PUMP program
When the medical evaluation is complete, you will be given a Respirator Medical
Certification letter explaining respirator limitations, if any.
Step 2 – Respirator Fit Test
Call the Regional Training Center and schedule a respirator training session and fit test.
To schedule an appointment, phone 503-287-4856. Bring your Medical Certification letter if
we do not already have it on file.
The training session is a user-friendly computer program developed by the Oregon Health
Sciences University and requires about one hour to complete.
When you have finished the computer training, you will be given a fit test. If this is
your first fit test, a respirator will be issued to you. If you are returning for the
annual training and fit test, bring your respirator with you.
